About Sara
I believe in each person’s capacity for insight and growth, guided by their unique life experiences and personal readiness.
As a counsellor, I work collaboratively with clients as a supportive guide—helping clarify goals, explore patterns, and build practical strategies for meaningful change. My intention is to offer a compassionate, grounded, and empowering space where clients feel heard, supported, and encouraged as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. Together, we work toward greater balance, resilience, and a more fulfilling life.
Below are some of the key areas I support in my work:
Youth (12+): Adolescence can bring big emotions, social pressures, and increasing expectations that may feel overwhelming. I support youth experiencing anxiety, depression, or attention-related challenges by offering a grounded, supportive space to build coping skills, confidence, and emotional awareness.
Anxiety, Depression, & Trauma: Trauma can remain stored in the nervous system and show up as reactivity, emotional overwhelm, or a sense of feeling stuck. Through Somatic EMDR, I support clients in gently processing these experiences so emotional intensity can lessen, fostering greater stability, regulation, and resilience. Additionally, I work with individuals experiencing anxiety and depression that interfere with daily functioning, relationships, or overall well-being, using compassionate, evidence-based approaches.
Parent Support: Parenting can be deeply rewarding while also bringing stress and uncertainty. I work with parents to better understand their child or teen’s emotional needs, strengthen communication, and navigate behavioural or developmental concerns with clarity and confidence—supporting both connection and the overall family system.
Addictions: Addictive behaviours often develop in response to stress, pain, or unresolved trauma. I offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach focused on understanding these patterns and building healthier coping strategies. My goal is to support clients in rebuilding self-trust and creating meaningful, sustainable change.
Approaches: Somatic EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Practices.
Specializations: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Addictions, Relationship Challenges, Parenting Support, and Life Transitions.
Populations: Youth (12+), Adults, Parents, Immigrants, and Refugees.
Education & Experience: I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in International Commerce from the University of Victoria. In addition to my certification in Somatic EMDR, I continue to pursue ongoing professional development in trauma-informed care, neurodiversity-affirming practice, and family systems.
Beyond the Work: Outside of my clinical work, I am a proud mother of two school-aged children—an experience that continually deepens my empathy and perspective. I am an avid traveler and have lived in the Middle East, Europe, and Costa Rica, experiences that have shaped my appreciation for cultural diversity and adaptability. In my free time, I enjoy golf, racket sports such as pickleball and tennis, and maintaining a regular yoga practice.
