The pace and demands of modern life can leave little room to pause, reflect, or feel grounded. You might be feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or disconnected, moving through life on autopilot, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or wondering how it is already 6 p.m. and you have not had lunch yet. Therapy with me offers a space to slow down, make sense of what is happening beneath the surface, and move toward change that actually sticks.
As a Canadian therapist born in Pakistan and raised in Montreal, California and Vancouver from the time I was 6 months old, I easily relate to clients from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, identity concerns, and life transitions. Some of my primary approaches are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST). I also draw from EFT, AEDP, CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Gottman Method Couples therapy and Motivational Interviewing, depending on what is most helpful for you.
My style is calm, collaborative, and thoughtful. Clients often appreciate that our work is both emotionally grounded and practical in reconnecting to values that inspire concrete action. We focus not just on insight, but on building flexibility, clarity, and skills you can use in everyday life. I work from a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens with awareness of how family, culture, and lived experience shape patterns, coping, and relationships.
EXPERIENCE
I hold a Master of Social Work, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia, as well as a Diploma in Counselling and Group Facilitation from Rhodes College. I’ve been involved in a broad range of mental health roles that inform my work in 10+ years in the field. These include: research intervention associate in a Canada wide study looking at mental health stigma in Asian men, counsellor with a variety of populations, case manager in a healthcare setting, group therapist focusing on anxiety and a workshop facilitator specializing in burnout.
I would be honored to walk alongside you in your own journey of healing and discovery as you gain insight into where you find yourself today and move forward courageously to heal and create the life you love.
