Shimoor (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and EMDR-trained therapist providing Individual and Family Therapy for ages 10 and up.
She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, undergraduate degree in Psychology, diploma in Early Childhood Education, and additional training in various mental health-related topics. She has over a decade of experience supporting children and youth, both within the community and the classroom, with a focus on special education. This gives her a unique perspective on child and adolescent development, school challenges, and navigating the complicated educational system.
Shimoor has a keen interest in issues related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and complex trauma. She is well versed in working with diverse populations, ages, and neurodivergence, and strives to provide culturally-relevant and socially-just support.
Shimoor’s eclectic approach is client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed, based on a foundation of strong therapeutic relationships and respectful, empathetic care. She tailors sessions based on the client’s specific needs and goals, drawing from a variety of counselling modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, and EMDR.
