Xiaoyan (Sicheng) Chen comes from a medical lineage in China. Inspired by her father’s more than 50-year career as a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician, she pursued formal training in both Western and Traditional Chinese medicine. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Western Medicine from Chongqing Medical University and subsequently completed her MD academic training at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This dual background enables her to provide an integrative, patient-centered approach to healthcare. With more than 15 years of clinical experience in China, Xiaoyan served as a Resident Physician and later as an Associate Chief Physician. Her professional expertise encompasses pediatrics, internal medicine, and rehabilitation, with a particular focus on integrative East-West clinical care and research. Since immigrating to Canada, Xiaoyan currently serves as an instructor at Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology and practices as a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P). Demonstrating her ongoing commitment to the profession, she is an active member of several professional organizations, including the ATCMS, BCTCM, and ATCMA. Throughout her extensive clinical practice, Xiaoyan has developed particular expertise in treating chronic pain, depression, insomnia, dermatological disorders, infertility, and children with special needs, including ASD, CP, and ADHD. She is skilled in the integrative application of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and dietary guidance to support systemic regulation, neurophysiological balance, and functional recovery. In her personal life, Xiaoyan values time spent with family and friends and enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, and playing table tennis. She adopted the professional nickname “Sicheng” as a heartfelt tribute to her hometown of Chengdu in Sichuan Province—the city that profoundly shaped her values and lifelong commitment to the art of medicine.
