Sookyung believes that all humans carry within them an innate wisdom and resilience, that allows them to not only heal, but also to change and grow throughout their life.
Sookyung holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and Art Therapy. She also has an MBA in International Business, and a Juris Doctorate. She is fluent in Korean and English, and has Intermediate capabilities with French and Spanish.
Sookyung has extensive experience in life transition, career transition, anger management, relationships counselling, leadership and management training, program development, and strategic planning. She specializes in couples counselling, working with men, working with those going through life transitions and career transitions, anger management, leadership and management training, and is passionate about working with first responders.
Sookyung also has specialized training in the following areas: Gottman Method Couples Therapy [Level 1, 2, & 3]; Occupational Awareness Training for Treating First Responder Trauma [Level 1 & 2]; Indigenous Cultural Competency; Narrative Therapy Level 1; Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy Level 1; Trauma-Focused CBT; and Art Therapy.
Sookyung works closely with Dr. Samra to develop clients’ treatment plans and offers both in-person and online (virtual) counselling, out of her Downtown Vancouver office space.
When not working as a Vancouver counsellor, you can find Sookyung painting portraits in her studio in downtown Vancouver, playing jazz music on the piano or practicing passionate Tango music with her accordion.
