About Sophie
New to NeurAlive with ample availability.
From an early age, I’ve felt deeply called to support others and to create spaces where healing, growth, and self-discovery can flourish. At the heart of my work is a strong belief in each person’s capacity for transformation—especially when offered a compassionate, non-judgmental space to explore their inner world.
In therapy, I help clients recognize unhelpful patterns, develop new ways of thinking, and build mindful habits that support lasting change and positive self-reflection. I work with individuals navigating a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, identity exploration, self-esteem, life transitions, grief, and substance use.
My approach is integrative and rooted in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Attachment Therapy, and EMDR. I draw from these modalities to tailor our work to your unique needs, helping you build resilience, restore balance, and move toward a more fulfilling life.
I’d be honoured to walk alongside you as we uncover what’s possible and take meaningful steps toward the life you want to create.
My practice focuses in the following areas:
Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression: I support individuals navigating the effects of trauma, anxiety, and depression with an approach that honors the mind–body connection and the unique ways distress shows up. Drawing from trauma-specific therapies, I help clients safely process painful experiences, regulate their nervous systems, and build tools for emotional steadiness and self-trust.
Grief and Loss: Grief can feel overwhelming, but healing is possible. I provide a compassionate environment where clients can process their loss, honour their emotions, and explore ways to find meaning and growth amidst difficult experiences.
Self-Esteem and Identity Exploration: I support individuals in addressing self-doubt and navigating the complexities of self-discovery. By creating a compassionate space to explore vulnerabilities, values, and personal goals, we will work together to build a stronger sense of self-worth, foster confidence, and embrace authenticity in who you are and who you’re becoming.
Life Transitions: Major life changes often bring uncertainty and stress. I support clients through these transitions by helping them process emotions, develop clarity, and create strategies to navigate change with resilience and purpose.
Substance Use and Addictions: I take a harm-reduction and trauma-informed approach to help individuals address the root causes of substance use. Together, we build practical strategies for recovery, foster resilience, and work toward lasting change.
Approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Attachment Therapy, and EMDR.
Populations: Youth (16+), Adults and Couples.
Specializations: Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Grief/Loss, Relationship Challenges, Self-Esteem/Identity Exploration, Men’s Mental Health, Substance Use and Addictions, Crisis and Suicidal Ideation, and Non-Suicidal Self-Injury.
Education and Experience: I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Victoria and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. My practicum, completed through a non-profit counselling organization, further enriched my understanding of working with diverse populations, particularly those facing substance use challenges and chronic mental health struggles.
Beyond the Work: Outside of therapy, I enjoy exploring the beauty of Vancouver Island through hiking adventures with my fiancé and our three dogs. I’m also a passionate coffee enthusiast, always on the hunt for hidden cafes serving the perfect cup. These simple joys inspire the balance and mindfulness I bring into my work with clients.
