About Suzanne
Suzanne is a Registered Psychologist. She graduated from City University of Seattle with her Master of Counselling in Counselling Psychology before acquiring advanced level training at the Vancouver School for Narrative Therapy. She is currently working toward registration as a Certified Gottman Couple’s Therapist. She is a member of the College of Alberta Psychologists. Suzanne practices from a Narrative approach, and draws from Family Systems, Solution-Focused, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing approaches in her therapeutic work. As an advocate for social justice, Suzanne uses her systemic training to understand individual contexts including how social norms, language, and multiple factors influence the development of people’s lives. She engages in a relational approach to understanding the affiliation between people and the problems from which they seek extrication. She aims to model authenticity, empathy, hope, and embrace humour in relationships with clients to provide therapeutic interventions that focus on empowering clients to embrace their strengths and initiate change both within themselves and within their systems. Suzanne is passionate about working with couples and families, helping them navigate relationship issues such as ineffective communication, separation, divorce, co-parenting and blending families. Extensive work with minority populations has contributed to Suzanne’s special interest in gender and sexual diversity as well as trauma resilience. She hosts a passion for supporting the LGTBQ2S+ community. Suzanne loves backpacking, hot yoga, and relaxing by the campfire with family and her fur babies.
