About Sydney
Their own words###Registered Psychologist
#####I am passionate about working alongside adults, adolescents, and children (6+) who face challenges related to trauma and neurodivergence.
Over the years, I have gained diverse experience in the mental health field, collaborating with vulnerable populations and individuals on the neurodivergent spectrum. My previous roles include serving as a behavioral interventionist for young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and supporting youth healing from sexual trauma. I’ve also volunteered as a crisis line operator, providing support and resources to individuals in emotional distress.
As a Registered Psychologist, my current areas of focus include posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sexual trauma, ASD, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anger, anxiety, depression, suicidality, and other mental health concerns.
My aim is to help clients address challenges such as establishing boundaries, improving communication, managing relational difficulties, regulating emotions, modifying behaviors, and shifting thinking patterns.
Ultimately, my primary role is to act as a guide to help you navigate and process the obstacles that come with both current and past trauma, with the goal of improving daily functioning.
#####My growth and healing approach to therapy integrates multiple modalities designed to empower those seeking support to be able to express their authentic selves without the pressure of needing to mask.
In our time together, you have the freedom to be whoever you want, not who you think you’re supposed to be. I value your unique contributions, and your treatment plan will be tailored to your specific needs and circumstances.
I utilize various methods to help facilitate change, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), emotion focused therapy (EFT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), somatic therapy, and other evidence-based approaches.
#####I truly believe in the power of the healing journey and how this transformative process can lead to impactful breakthroughs.
As a therapist who has also participated in personal therapy, I understand how intimidating and overwhelming the experience can be. If I have the privilege of being your therapist, I will strive to create an environment where you feel safe and heard. Fostering a foundation of safety is highly important to me as it allows my clients to feel comfortable being vulnerable.
Trust is key to building security in the therapeutic relationship. You need to feel that you can let your guard down, and I value developing a strong therapeutic connection from our very first session. This bond often marks your first step toward healing.
#####I firmly believe that all individuals have the potential to grow and evolve. Wherever you are on your healing journey, I am ready to work alongside you.
It is important to recognize that healing is not a linear process. I want you to know that you will not be alone in its unpredictability, nor will you face these challenges alone—we will struggle and work through them together to establish stability and allow for growth.
The progress you’ve made to get to this point is a testament to your resilience. If I’m fortunate enough to work with you, I want you to know that I am proud of you for taking this leap. I will be a pillar of support for you on your mental health journey towards healing and wellness.
