About Tanya
Their own wordsI am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with a diverse background in supporting individuals through challenging life experiences. My career began 15 years ago in the corrections system, where I worked closely with women navigating complex mental health issues. Since then, I have worked in a variety of healthcare settings offering support to those experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, and trauma.
In recent years, my focus has shifted toward women’s health, with a passionate focus on perinatal mental health. This shift was deeply influenced by my own personal experiences with birth and reproductive trauma, as well as witnessing the often-overlooked struggles that many women face on their journey into parenthood. I feel that this area is significantly underserved, and I am passionate about providing the support and care to women and families during this transformative time. I am dedicated to empowering women to navigate the emotional complexities of pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenthood.
I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Windsor University and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Lakehead University. Additionally, I have completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Concurrent Disorders from Mohawk College, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Laurier University. I hold certificates in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Perinatal Mental Health. I also engage in continuous learning and development, with a particular focus on Emotionally Focused and Somatic Approaches to help deepen my practice and provide holistic support to my clients.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner, daughter and three stepchildren. I have a passion for travel, learning new things, cooking, and spontaneous kitchen dance parties.
