Note: This treatment is for returning patients only - IMS (dry needling) is a technique used by physiotherapists to treat nerve and muscle pain. The technique uses a medical grade needle (without injection) inserted into the targeted area of muscle on the body known as the trigger point. The trigger point is an irritated area on the muscle that is painful or uncomfortable with pressure, causing a larger area to be in discomfort. Once the needle is inserted, the muscle surrounding the area can experience a localized "twitch" response, which can feel like the muscle tightens briefly, then relaxes completely which can take pressure off surrounding nerves. This service is used as an adjunct to movement and exercise, hoping to relieve any neural tension and allow the patient to train into ranges/patterns they were having difficulties with. Patients who have already booked an initial physiotherapy session are able to book for this service.
