Zixin Guo
Zixin is a Registered Provisional Psychologist and Ph.D. Candidate in Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary. She provides psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults as well as counselling for adolescents, youth, and adults.
Zixin can help with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, emotion regulation, relationship challenges, self-esteem, trauma, and academic or workplace concerns. She strives to create a warm, supportive, and culturally responsive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful, lasting change.

Her approach is collaborative and tailored to everyone’s unique needs. She integrates evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Radical Exposure Tapping (RET). In September, Zixin will also complete EMDRIA-approved EMDR training and will also begin offering EMDR therapy for clients experiencing trauma and other distressing life experiences.
In addition to counselling, Zixin conducts comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults to help identify learning differences, ADHD, and other cognitive, academic, or psychological factors. She is passionate about helping clients better understand their strengths and challenges while providing practical recommendations to support success at school, work, and in everyday life.
Before joining Alberta Counselling Centre, Zixin gained extensive supervised clinical experience in post-secondary counselling, primary care, and private practice settings, providing individual counselling, crisis intervention, risk assessment, group therapy, and comprehensive psychological assessments.
Zixin is fluent in both English and Mandarin, allowing her to provide services in either language.

This is an in-office appointment. This session is a conversation/interview with a psychologist who is highly specialized in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in adults. In addition to this initial intake to gather background information and collateral data, your psychologist will also book additional testing sessions that include cognitive assessment, academic evaluation, and administration of gold standard, standardized ASD-focused testing, including the ADOS-2 battery.
This is an in-office session. The adult psychoeducational assessment intake is a conversation with a psychologist who has extensive training and expertise in psychological assessments. This initial session is comprehensive and takes approximately 1 hour. During the intake, your psychologist will ask you about your background, family life, medical history, educational and employment history, and of course your current situation. You are encouraged to openly discuss your concerns at this time.
The intake session is a 1-hour, semi-structured interview with a psychologist. This initial appointment is for parents only, for the purpose of discussing the child’s developmental history and current concerns.
