Cupping Therapy
Fire Cupping is a traditional therapy where a flame is briefly placed inside a glass or bamboo cup to create a vacuum before placing it on the skin. The suction pulls the skin and underlying tissue upward, promoting blood flow and relieving muscle tension.
Cupping Therapy (in general) involves placing suction cups on the skin to stimulate circulation, reduce pain, and promote healing. Modern versions may use manual or mechanical pumps instead of fire.
Scientific Basis
Increased Blood Flow: Suction draws blood to the area, potentially aiding tissue repair.
Pain Relief: May stimulate nerves and reduce muscle stiffness (similar to massage).
Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Some studies suggest cupping triggers anti-inflammatory responses.
Placebo Effect? Limited high-quality evidence exists, but it's widely used in complementary medicine.
While some studies show benefits (e.g., for chronic pain), more rigorous research is needed to confirm mechanisms. It’s generally safe when performed correctly but can leave temporary marks (bruise-like discoloration).

Most of the appointment is spent mapping out what’s going on in your body and choosing points, then resting with fine needles in place for a stretch — sometimes with heat, cups or electrical stimulation — and you leave with a sense of what was treated and whether more sessions make sense.
