Postpartum Visit
The initial postpartum visit is for any mom who wishes to get a pelvic health examination following vaginal or cesarean birth.
During this initial visit, we require 60-minutes to complete a full assessment of postpartum abdominal wall (diastasis recti assessment), lumbopelvic function, and pelvic floor integrity (external and internal).
You will learn a lot during this assessment/treatment: from healing your core, mobilizing your scar (perineal or c-section), gently rehabilitating the muscles connected to your pelvic floor, and more...
Clearance from GP/OB isn't mandatory but could be recommended depending on if there were any complications during birth or during the early recovery process. Any signs of infections of the abdomen or vaginal area will prevent any physical intervention. We highly recommend that women follow-up with their doctors first, if they believe that they may have an active infection or medical complication occurring.
