MLD or manual lymphatic drainage is a choreographed series of feather light 'skin stretch' strokes that encourage the lymph capilaries to open, which aids in swelling reduction. It is excellent for pre and post surgical patients, or any swelling that may occur.
MLD is a contraindicator* in patients who have auto immune conditions. This treatment stimulates the immune system, and in a patient with autoimmunity it may exasperate their symptoms.
