Piriformis syndrome is a neuromuscular disorder occurring when the small piriformis muscle in the buttock compresses or irritates the sciatic nerve, causing pain, numbness, or tingling in the buttocks and down the leg. It is often caused by overuse, injury, or prolonged sitting.
