Partial Nail Avulsion and Phenol Matrix destruction
Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA), or Total Nail Avulsion (TNA) are minor surgical procedures performed by foot specialist for the long term treatment of chronic ingrown toenails. PNA procedure is the most common and is chosen when 1 or 2 sides of the nail is ingrown, removing only the offending nail and leaving behind a normal size nail plate. TNA procedure is the complete removal of the toenail when the nail is either excessively curled, thickened, chronically fungal, or damaged. This surgery is a safe and very successful treatment for chronic ingrown toenails.
