Acupuncture Appointment
The treatment possibility for acupuncture are endless! Acupuncture is a healing modality that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), for thousands of years. Acupuncture can be used in many ways to treat different problems in our body. TCM philosophy describes our health as dependent on the body’s energy known as “Qi” (“chee”). Qi is supposed to move smoothly, harmoniously, and balanced through our body along channels called meridians. Qi is where the term “Yin and Yang” comes from; equal and opposite properties. It is when the Yin and Yang becomes disrupted and unbalanced where problems arise. Many different things can cause this: stress, anxiety, physical and emotional trauma, grief, the weather, poor nutrition, anger, and fear to name a few. By inserting acupuncture needles into specific points along these meridians in the body, Qi can be restored by stimulating the body’s natural physical and emotional balance. In the 1970’s Dr. Joseph Wong began to research and lab test anatomical acupuncture. He wanted to see what the acupuncture needle was disrupting in our tissues when inserted into the skin. The acupuncture needle stimulates fascia, nerves, deep neural receptors (which relates to helping with “hormone balance”), and muscle tissue, which is why acupuncture is so effective in treating many physical problems as well as emotional.
