Pregnancy Program - Labour Preparation Acupuncture
This appointment should be scheduled weekly starting week 36 of your pregnancy until week 40, and then daily (or as often as needed) following your due date. Labour preparation acupuncture is designed to support your body for labour and delivery including cervical ripening, optimizing fetal positioning, tonifying the uterus and encouraging a calm nervous system beneficial to the birthing process. In these appointments, Dr. Heather, ND will also continue to provide guidance on labour supportive techniques and navigate late stage pregnancy concerns such as back and sciatic pain as needed.

Most of the appointment is spent mapping out what’s going on in your body and choosing points, then resting with fine needles in place for a stretch — sometimes with heat, cups or electrical stimulation — and you leave with a sense of what was treated and whether more sessions make sense.
