TMJ massage is the treatment of the muscles of mastication.
Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJD) refers to the disorders that may affect the jaw joint.
Common symptoms are:
Jaw tension, stiffness, pain
Clicking, grinding sounds
Jaw locking, restricted movement
Headaches.
Causes:
Jaw injuries
Bruxism ( teeth clenching/grinding)
Arthritis
Disc displacement
The muscles can be addressed externally (face) and internally (intraoral)
Our dedicated Registered Massage Therapist can gently work the jaw muscles which may help you to reduce the symptoms and also to support the pre or post operative TMJ care.
