This is the first of four visits to help manage PCOS if you have already been diagnosed. If you suspect you have PCOS but do not yet have a firm diagnosis, we will spend time going over proper assessment (i.e. which lab tests and imaging you need) to get an accurate diagnosis. This will likely involve a collaborative care approach with a referral back to your family doctor and/or gynecologist if necessary. Please bring in lab work and imaging that you have already completed so that we can review together. We go over how to collect baseline data on your menstrual cycle regularity, nutrition and other symptoms like hirsutism and acne so that we are able to track the magnitude of benefit when we implement naturopathic therapies. We will review PCOS specific nutrition changes to achieve weight loss (if necessary), reduce inflammation and improve the hormone profile. We will also go over strategies for including regular physical activity to help achieve weight loss goals. Lastly, you will begin an evidence-based supplement regimen to help achieve menstrual cycle regularity, regular ovulation, improved hormone profile (i.e. insulin, testosterone) and improved egg quality.
