This is a gentle treatment designed specifically for children under the age of 16. As kids are sensitive and responsive to treatment, less is more. Typically, only a few needles are needed and not retained for a long duration, if at all. Other modalities such as cupping and acupressure may be used for kids who are weary of needles and acupuncture can be introduced later, once trust has been established. Acupuncture has been found to aid development, boost immunity, calm hyper-active children, improve asthma and allergies symptoms and helps with anxiety and sleep issues.

Most of the session is the treatment itself — needles placed at selected points and left in place for a stretch, sometimes with heat or electrical stimulation — with a shorter check-in on what changed after last time and any small adjustments before you leave with the next step in the plan.
