Pessary Fitting Assessment
This appointment is for individuals seeking support for pelvic organ prolapse symptoms (such as heaviness, pressure, or bulging) and stress urinary incontinence (with jumping, sneezing, coughing, running, etc.). Pessaries will be used as a conservative management option.
*** You will need a consent form signed by your family physician, nurse practitioner, or OBGYN. Check with Kimberly Lessard to ensure that you have the appropriate form to be signed.
During this comprehensive assessment, your pelvic health physiotherapist will:
Take a thorough medical and pelvic health history
Perform an internal pelvic floor exam (with your consent)
Assess pessary suitability, including size and style selection
Fit a pessary if appropriate and guide you through insertion, removal, and care
Discuss how to safely integrate pessary use with exercise, daily activities, and symptom management
This appointment is collaborative (with your family physician, nurse practitioner, or OBGYN), respectful, and trauma-informed. Follow-ups will typically be scheduled to ensure comfort, fit, and symptom improvement.
Please bring any previous pelvic health assessments or relevant medical history.
