Virtual Parental Consult / Assessment Appointment with a Psychotherapist
The purpose of this consultation between the Psychotherapist and the parents or guardians is to allow the opportunity to describe the reasons for seeking professional guidance and begin to set out the goals of the children’s sessions. Your Psychotherapist will explain what to expect from her process as well as her recommendations for future sessions.
We all can benefit by acknowledging the big feelings and sometimes difficult emotions experienced by children and their families, particularly if they have or are experiencing anxiety, grief, illness or trauma. Creative arts therapists help children visually express and record experiences, perceptions, feelings and imagination; they use arts-based approaches to enhance young clients’ abilities to communicate through creative expression. Art expression is a form of non-verbal communication. For children and teens who may not be able to articulate thoughts, sensations, emotions or perceptions, it is one way to convey what may be difficult to express with words.
