Indie Head Massage is the art of manipulating the soft tissue of the scalp, face, and upper neck. Warmed fractionated coconut oil is infused with essential oils and is applied around the hairline and massaged into the scalp.
For treatment on the face, a non-comedogenic squalane face oil is applied, and cold roller balls are applied afterwards to soothe sinus regions and alleviate tension around the jaw and temples.
Techniques employed in this treatment are within the Scope of Practice for Massage Therapy, therefore can be claimed for insurance benefits.
If pain relief is the goal, this 75 or 90 minute treatment can address conditions such as TMJ (jaw) pain, headaches and pain in the face from clenching or grinding.
Please arrive without makeup on, and bring a hat or hair clip for after the treatment! It is ideal to leave the coconut oil in your hair until the next day, as your hair and scalp will absorb the oil and leave it feeling softer and conditioned.
