Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a specialized form of physiotherapy involving internal and external assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles. Those muscles are located between the hip bones and the sacrum, and they support the pelvic organs including the bladder, colon and uterus.
Symptoms and conditions that typically respond well to pelvic floor physiotherapy are urinary incontinence (including leaking when you cough or sneeze), organ prolapse, pregnancy and postpartum, pre and post operative, overall pain and/or discomfort.

What it is
Most of this first physiotherapy visit is spent figuring out what’s driving the problem — history, movement, strength and hands-on testing — then some treatment if there’s time, and you leave with a clearer picture and a plan for what comes next.
