Visceral Manipulation is a manual therapy consisting of light, gentle, specifically placed manual forces that encourage normal mobility, tone and inherent tissue motion of the viscera and their connective tissues. These manipulations have the potential to affect normal physiological function of individual organs, the systems they function within, and the structural integrity of the entire body.
All pathology of the viscera results in what we will call visceral restrictions. When this happens, the viscera in question is no longer freely mobile in its cavity but is fixed to another structure. The body is forced to compensate for this situation, which leads to a functional problem and eventually, if the compensation is inadequate, to a structural problem.
Irritation, with time, creates inflammation. Inflammation causes tissues to produce exudate, which in turn forms adhesions. Adhesions by their constricting actions produce interference with normal circulation of blood and lymph. This creates congestion, which in turn affords a breeding ground for undesirable bacteria and accompanying fermentations and toxins.
Kim also incorporates Chi Nei Tsang which is an ancient Oriental Healing Art that focuses primarily on the abdomen.
Both these modalities encourage the internal organs to return to their optimal position while restoring their natural unrestricted movement; restore vitality by triggering detoxification; improves digestion, elimination and stimulates the lymphatic and circulatory systems.
