Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a light-touch modality that works with the fascia, and how it interacts with the craniosacral system.
Melissa has worked with clients using CST to help address post-concussive symptoms, Scoloisis symptoms, TMJ disorders, neurological disorders including Alzheimer's/Dementia, Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, and mental health conditions (to name a few).
Craniosacral therapy techniques can be performed as a stand alone treatment, or incorporated into your regular massage treatment. If it is a stand alone treatment, the client will remain fully dressed, and loose fitting/comfortable clothes are suggested. Hand placement may be required at the sacrum, so longer shorts/pants are recommended.
Based on assessment at the beginning of the appointment, treatment may include diaphragmatic releases, direction of energy, energy cyst releases, application of stillpoints , intra-oral techniques, and/or listening to the body to release physical and emotional trauma.
Clients may notice changes in symptoms immediately or up to 24-48 hours post treatment, as the body processes the techniques applied. Often clients will comment at their next session that they noticed improvement a day or two later. Sometimes the changes are subtle, and may take a few sessions to build momentum. Generally, it is recommended to commit to 3-4 sessions in a closer time period to give your body time to adapt and respond to the treatments. Although many clients have come back to the clinic after a single session with improvement.
