A conjoint session, followed by individual interviews with each partner are conducted.
The goals of Couples/Family Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.

Most of the hour is spent talking through what’s been happening, how you’ve been reacting, and what patterns keep showing up — your counsellor asks questions, reflects things back, and helps you put words to it — so you leave with a clearer sense of what came up and what to keep noticing between sessions.
