Alanna graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies in Applied Science from Simon Fraser University with a focus on Kinesiology and English in addition to a Certificate in Health and Fitness and a Certificate in Applied Human Nutrition. During her time at SFU, Alanna participated in the CO-OP Program where she gained experience working as an Orthopaedic Brace Fitter and as a student Kinesiologist. Alanna worked as an Exercise Therapist & Personal Trainer for six years in a busy multi-disciplinary clinic where she was responsible for guiding clients of all abilities through their rehabilitation programs to get them back to wellness. She also gained on-field experience working with Langley Athletic FC where she performed pre-game taping, onsite first-aid and injury management.
Alanna has a great passion for exercise therapy and helping clients recover from injury and assisting them to return to their optimal level of function. It was her passion for helping clients that drove Alanna back to school to add to her skill set and become a Registered Massage Therapist. While studying at WCCMT, Alanna gained experience working with clients with varying conditions including; Sports Related Injuries, Postural Related Injuries, Osteoarthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Pre-Natal Clients both healthy and high risk pregnancy, Headaches, Burns & Scars and Post-Surgical work. She also received recognition from the RMTBC for her Case Study work. Her approach to massage therapy is to take the time to listen and thoroughly assess her clients to create a treatment plan that includes the appropriate massage techniques and active rehabilitation exercises.
Currently Alanna enjoys playing slo-pitch, running with her husky Bandit, snowboarding and hiking.
