Philosophy
Alex believes that the best results are achieved when clients are active participants (not just passengers) in their own care. He sees the body as a holistic network with the nervous system in the driver’s seat. To integrate it all effectively, he often mixes non-traditional modalities into his treatments, such as Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), Joint Mobilizations or Muscle Energy Techniques (MET). He approaches issues with a wide-lens, using orthopedic and functional testing to guide treatments so they can address the root cause of any issues, not only the symptoms.
Alex was introduced to massage therapy as a way to help with his own sports injuries, mind-body connection, and general wear and tear on his body. This fueled his interest in exercise science and rehabilitation. He loves using everything he’s learned to help others with the same excellent care that helped him.
Personal experience/interests
A lover of all things sports, Alex played competitive soccer throughout his high school years until injuries sidelined him. He now enjoys the game more casually. He also plays tennis and squash when time allows. He spends his quieter time writing fiction, hiking and playing board/card games. As a recovering chef, Alex is slowly rediscovering the joys of cooking for himself, but will happily talk about gastronomy anytime.
Favourite thing to treat: Compensation patterns. The body is remarkable and its ability to repair itself is a wonder. But the brain is also remarkable and the speed at which it adapts is tremendous. Even once your tissue has recovered; learned patterns of movement can stick around. Guiding the body back to healthy balance isn’t done in a day, but it is rewarding work.
