Alison is a Registered Physiotherapist who completed her Master's degree in Physical Therapy at McGill University. She developed her eagerness for learning about human kinetics and rehabilitation through her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Toronto. She discovered her passion in working with people in a health care setting through part time jobs as a First Responder for University Intramurals teams, and a Physiotherapy Assistant in private clinics and senior homes. Growing up with parents who worked laborious jobs, she found meaning in providing patient care that focuses on functional activity and is integrative in her patients' daily life and goals. She uses principles grounded in manual therapy and patient-centered exercise prescription in her treatment.
She has also developed an expertise in female and male pelvic health through working with pre- and post-partum and chronic pelvic pain patients in her final placement. She is well versed in treating patients with urinary and fecal urgency or incontinence, simple cases of pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic girdle pain, vaginismus, dyspareunia and labour and delivery preparation.
Through her volunteer experiences in Taiwan and Haiti, she has grown an interest in languages. She is fluent in Cantonese and is improving in her Mandarin and French speaking skills. Outside of work Alison enjoys jogging, discovering restaurants and cooking for her big family so feel free to share recommendations and recipes!
