**Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbalist,
Diploma Doctorate of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Doula**
Alison completed her training at the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences (ACOS) in Nelson, BC. She graduated from the 5 year Doctorate of Chinese Medicine program, and is currently registered as a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P.), offering acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping and much more.
She also has completed a Birth Doula training with Gloria Lemay, and her "Wise Woman Way of Birth" education program.
Alison is a true believer that health and wellness is one of the most important values in life. The approach that traditional Chinese medicine takes to health, which involves using elements of nature to balance the body, mind and spirit - is what attracted Alison into this practice.
During a session with Alison, we will go through a history of your own personal health, where we will discover patterns from a Chinese medicine based diagnosis which will direct our treatment together. From here, Alison will develop a treatment that is tailored to your own unique needs, utilizing acupuncture, acupressure, cupping, herbalism, or any other TCM techniques that are indicated for your healing journey.
Her love for the outdoors and recreation has brought about a passion for treating sports related injuries, whether they are chronic or recent. Alison uses her knowledge and training of anatomical acupuncture to treat pain imbalances in the body due to overstrain, sprain, and pre/post surgical injuries.
Alison also has an interest in digestive health and dietary counseling, gynecological/hormonal issues, and the treatment of fertility, pregnancy, pre-natal, post-partum care with TCM. She has studied continuing education courses with Debra Betts and Claudia CItkovitz, some of the leading experts on TCM care for pregnancy.
You can expect to leave your session feeling relaxed, aligned and empowered with the tools to motivate you towards your personal health goals.

30 minutes of Cupping using traditional glass cups
Our faces hold so much of our expression, emotion, and also weather exposure to the elements. Tension can accumulate over time in the facial muscles, leading to headaches, jaw pain/clenching, and are often disregarded as something that can be treated. TCM facial rejuvenation treatment involves the placement of very small/fine acupuncture needles, in areas of the face with wrinkles, muscular tension, dryness/redness etc, as well as incorporates facial gua sha stones, jade rollers, silicone facial cups, and a specially crafted TCM herbal facial oil. Leave your session feeling relaxed, uplifted, and refreshed.
If it is your first time at Pine & Needle and you have a simple issue you would like to focus on, such as an injury or pain in one area of your body, which would require less of a thorough health history intake, book this treatment. We will spend approximately 15 minutes assessing your injury/pain and then move onto treatment, without a thorough TCM health history/assessment.
If it is your first time at Pine & Needle, and you have a more complex health situation or many things you would like to work on, book this treatment. We will do an intake process through which I will get a thorough health history and details surrounding your main complaint. Chinese medicine also uses pulse and tongue diagnosis to add to this diagnostic process. This intake process will create a foundation for successful treatment, as the basis of Chinese Medicine is to treat a person's whole constitution, and discover patterns of imbalance in the body, to resolve the main complaint. After the intake process (approx. 30 mins), we will move on to treatment.
An extended session for return clients, book this if you are looking for a double sided acupuncture treatment with cupping or gua sha as an addition.
For returning patients, a brief follow up visit for 45 mins to continue treatment.
A 1 hour acupuncture treatment, book this option if you are a returning patient who has been to Pine & Needle before and are looking to continue treatment.
A 1.5 hour acupuncture treatment (for returning patients), paired with another alternative treatment modality such as Cupping, Gua Sha, or Electro-acupuncture. This longer time duration allows for a two-sided treatment with additional cupping etc, and more time for you to relax and sink deeper into your treatment.
approx 45 minute Zoom, Phone, or in person appointment discussing a TCM Herbal formula, we will go through a TCM style consult questionnaire and discuss any questions or goals you may have. Your formula will be created afterwards and shipped to your home address. Note: Cost of herbs is not included, and differs from formula to formula. Prices usually range from $90-$100 for one months supply of herbs, including shipping and taxes. Please contact if you have more questions.
