An Olympian, professional runner and coach, Anthony’s experiences and love of movement became a passion to help folks stay healthy, leading him to a career in Osteopathy.
He enjoys working with all population types, with a wide variety of issues, including:
- Joint Pain: back, hip, neck, shoulder, knees etc
- Headaches, migraines and post concussion symptoms
- Digestive issues, circulation and lymphatic drainage
- Pre (2nd and 3rd trimester) and post natal complaints
- Changes and complications related to aging
- Sports injuries and performance
- And more!
A session with Anthony begins by thoroughly reviewing your medical and injury history, which he looks at through an Osteopathic lens as a holistic manual therapy that prioritizes the relationships between the structures, tissues and physiological systems. Clients often find this approach enlightening as they connect the dots in their health history with the symptoms they are experiencing. Anthony will then conduct a comprehensive manual assessment and treatment, which involves thorough and careful motion testing of your body’s joints and tissues, from head to toe. The objective is to create a complete picture of your body’s movement profile that may explain why certain tissues, systems and structures are experiencing unnecessary stress and/or dysfunction.
Anthony will then apply osteopathic treatment, which is a gentle approach, communicating with your nervous system to make functional changes to your soft tissues (think fascia, muscles, tendons and ligaments). These changes are intended to improve overall movement patterns, reduce nervous irritation and improve circulation.
Anthony applies many techniques to meet each client’s unique needs, including:
Myofascial Release: Gentle stretching and compression, sometimes similar to massage through the application of sustained pressure
Neuromuscular Facilitation & Inhibition: Also known as “Muscle Energy”, contract/relax techniques for relaxing muscle tissue and improving range of motion
Ligamentous Articulation: Slow to moderately paced rhythmic movements that target the deepest tissues of the joint, encouraging changes to these closely guarded areas without the use of high-speed adjustments
Anthony applies these techniques specifically for each client. The outcome often involves cranial, craniosacral and visceral osteopathy, but is most importantly a collective treatment, emphasizing the client’s needs over any specific style or technique.
Anthony grew up in Hamilton, was a multi-sport athlete and later excelled in middle distance running, competing at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics in the 800m. He attended the prestigious Ivy League institution Dartmouth College as an undergraduate, before completing his BSc at the University of Guelph. Anthony’s career as a professional runner and coach spanned until his late twenties. The education he gained in the field of health and performance was both broad and unique. His love of sport and movement became a passion to help folks stay healthy, so that they can experience their own personal daily joys. As a retired athlete, he learned from personal experience that our physical and mental health is intertwined. This led him to an education in Osteopathy, and he graduated from the four year program at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy here in Hamilton
In his personal life, Anthony is now a more casual runner, and also enjoys other pursuits such as hockey, racquet sports, cycling, hiking: basically anything that gets him moving, outside and socializing. He also loves Sci Fi and Fantasy, and will happily discuss literature, film and the Montreal Canadiens.
Anthony is committed to creating a welcoming clinical environment, one that is collaborative and attentive to the needs of each client. He looks forward to meeting and working with you!
