Anusha Gowda is Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Worker (OCSWSSW). She completed Masters of Social Work through Bangalore University, and also holds a Master’s in Philosophy in Psychiatric Social Work from NIMHANS.
She has worked with a diverse clientele within a multitude of clinical inpatient and outpatient settings. She has provided individual and group counselling to clients suffering from anxiety,
depression, stress, anger management, insomnia, chronic pain, grief and other mental health challenges. She aims to be a warm, dynamic, and engaging therapist, and use an integrative approach that draws on Cognitive behavioural (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Mindfulness based practices. She also aims to create a caring environment for each one of her clients by focusing on values, goals, culture and lived experiences.
She has a special interest in working with women as they navigate life and role transitions, specifically in the areas of pregnancy, motherhood, co-parenting, fertility, and loss. She has done her maternal mental health certificate from Postpartum Support International.
In her spare time, she tries to incorporate exercise in her daily life. She loves to get outside, take a walk and be active or do yoga to relax and unwind! She makes time for herself, just taking a few minutes to practice mindfulness helps her to stay present in the moment.
** Anusha is currently available for virtual appointments on Thursday and Friday evenings and on weekends by request.
