Bethany is a licensed social worker and therapist with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, where she holds an Advanced Clinical Specialist designation. She is also a member of the Canadian Association of Social Workers and brings more than 20 years of experience supporting people in health care and mental health settings.
She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology in 1997 and went on to earn both her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University.
Bethany works with adolescents and adults of all ages, genders, and non-binary identities. She values creating a welcoming, compassionate space for individuals from diverse backgrounds and has particular experience supporting veterans, current military members, and first responders.
Her practice is grounded in a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach that helps clients feel understood, supported, and empowered. She believes in a holistic view of wellness that includes physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being, while respecting each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals.
Over her 20+ year career, Bethany has developed deep expertise across key areas of mental health support. She specializes in trauma and post-traumatic stress—including military-related experiences, veterans, first responders, and sexual assault survivors—as well as grief and loss, addictions, and childhood trauma.
Her practice also addresses anxiety and depression, chronic pain and health concerns, anger and conflict management, emotional regulation, parenting and relationship support, stress management, life transitions, school and career-related stress, burnout, and relationship challenges.
Bethany is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, an evidence-based approach that can support healing from trauma and other distressing life experiences. Clients often report additional EMDR benefits including improved self-esteem and confidence, enhanced emotional regulation and coping skills, stronger interpersonal relationships and communication, reduced physiological tension, and increased overall resilience and quality of life.
