**Founder & Physiotherapist**
Brendan Lehman is the founder of Podium Physiotherapy and Performance and a physiotherapist who believes everyone deserves access to high-level care; not just professional athletes.
Having competed as a varsity athlete in both volleyball and basketball, Brendan understands firsthand the frustration of injuries, setbacks, and the challenge of returning to the activities you love. His own athletic experiences shaped his approach to rehabilitation: combining evidence-based treatment, strength training, and a clear pathway back to performance.
While completing his Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Alberta’s Augustana Campus, Brendan transitioned from athlete to coach, becoming the strength and conditioning coach for the 2015 ACAC championship-winning Vikings volleyball program. During this time, he also coached U15-U18 club volleyball and worked with Volleyball Alberta’s developmental programs, helping young athletes build the skills and physical foundation needed to succeed.
After graduating, Brendan began his career as a kinesiologist in the rehabilitation industry, working with a wide range of individuals and seeing the impact that exercise-based rehabilitation could have on recovery and long-term health. This experience led him to pursue further education, completing his Master’s degree in Physiotherapy with distinction at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland. During his studies, Brendan completed his dissertation on patellar tendon loading strategies while continuing to compete in university basketball.
Following graduation, Brendan expanded his clinical experience working in neurological rehabilitation, treating individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, strokes, and other complex neurological conditions. After returning to Edmonton, he returned to his roots in sports rehabilitation, working with athletes and active individuals looking to overcome injuries and get back to performing at their best.
Through his experiences as an athlete, coach, and clinician, Brendan developed a simple belief: rehabilitation should be more than managing symptoms, it should help people become stronger, more confident, and capable of doing the things they love.
At Podium, Brendan brings a performance-focused approach to every patient, whether they are returning to competitive sport, training for their first race, recovering from surgery, or simply wanting to move without pain. His goal is to provide the same level of thoughtful, individualized care that professional athletes receive, for every person who walks through the door.
