Catherine Johnston, R. TCMP, R. Ac., is a graduate of Humber College’s Traditional Chinese Medicine program, where she earned her diploma with Honours. She is a member in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO), reflecting her commitment to professional standards and regulated practice.
Her clinical approach is grounded in a comprehensive understanding of each patient’s overall health, rather than focusing solely on symptoms. Cathy specializes in sports injury recovery, pain management, fertility support, and gynecological health, with treatment plans designed to address underlying imbalances and support lasting results. By integrating traditional acupuncture principles with a modern perspective on health, she works with patients to restore balance, improve function, and promote long-term well-being.
Cathy’s practice is centered on individualized treatment. Each plan is tailored to reflect a patient’s health history, lifestyle, and specific goals. This approach allows for more targeted care and consistent progress over time.
She offers acupuncture to support a wide range of conditions, including:
• Sports injuries and rehabilitation
• Pain management, including acute and chronic pain
• Back and neck pain
• Sciatica
• Fertility support for both women and men
• Women’s and gynecological health, including menstrual irregularities, PMS, and menopause-related symptoms
• Digestive health concerns
• Headaches and migraines
• Sleep disturbances, including insomnia
• Stress and anxiety management
• Chronic fatigue and low energy
• General wellness and preventative care
In addition to treating specific conditions, Cathy works with patients looking to improve overall health, manage stress, or address ongoing fatigue. Her approach considers the connection between physical and physiological systems, supporting more comprehensive and sustainable outcomes.
Fertility and reproductive health are key areas of focus within Cathy’s practice. She supports patients at various stages, whether trying to conceive naturally or undergoing assisted reproductive treatments. Acupuncture can help regulate hormonal function, improve circulation, and reduce the physiological impact of stress, all of which contribute to reproductive health.
Cathy also has a strong focus on gynecological health. She works with patients experiencing menstrual irregularities, painful cycles, PMS, and symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause. Treatment plans are designed to support hormonal balance, reduce discomfort, and improve day-to-day function.
Pain management is another central component of her work. Whether addressing sports injuries, chronic conditions, or tension-related discomfort, Cathy develops structured treatment plans aimed at reducing inflammation, improving mobility, and supporting recovery. This approach is well suited for individuals seeking non-invasive options for managing pain.
Cathy emphasizes a practical, collaborative approach to care. She ensures patients understand how acupuncture supports their condition. This clarity helps patients make informed decisions and stay engaged in their progress.
Her clinical approach is supported by ongoing professional development and a commitment to staying current with advancements in acupuncture and integrative healthcare. This ensures that treatments remain both effective and aligned with current standards.
Acupuncture is also used as a preventative tool within Cathy’s practice. Regular treatments can help maintain balance, improve resilience to stress, and support overall health, reducing the likelihood of more significant issues developing over time.
For those new to acupuncture or considering whether it is the right fit, Cathy offers a free 15-minute consultation. This allows patients to discuss their concerns, ask questions, and better understand how treatment can support their goals.
Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, addressing fertility or gynecological concerns, or working toward improved overall health, Cathy provides a structured and effective approach to acupuncture care.
