Hi there, I’m Cindy!
I am an orthopedic and pelvic floor physiotherapist.
I grew up on the west coast of Ireland playing lots of sports from a young age,
particularly soccer, and was introduced to physiotherapy pretty early for my own
injuries. I was fascinated by the rehab process and intrigued by the body’s ability
to heal, especially the role that physiotherapy played in facilitating this process.
After receiving my BSc. in Health Science and Physiology, I went on to study
Physiotherapy at Trinity in Dublin. I had lots of exciting roles early on in my
career; treating sports injuries pitch side and representing the Irish Society of
Chartered Physiotherapists at the European surfing championships in 2011. Fast-
forward to 2013 - I traded my surfboard for a snowboard and moved to Alberta!
My approach to treatment is simple. It always centres around the patient in front of me and their lifestyle, and will involve movement of some sort which will be the driving force for how my skillset can help them recover. I pride myself on establishing great therapeutic relationships with my patients. It’s important for you to trust the person coaching your recovery!
Pain is complex and recovery is rarely linear. For this reason, I place a huge emphasis on pain education so that my patients understand the “why” surrounding their symptoms. This helps to set realistic expectations and removes some of the unnecessary stress attached to the pain experience.
In my time away from work you can find me chasing my young family, trying to squeeze in a workout, or planning my next travel adventure.
I look forward to seeing you soon at M1 Summerside!
