David Locke
David Locke is originally from Perth, Western Australia. He studied physiotherapy at Curtin University in Bentley, Western Australia, graduating with first class honours. He received the Emeritus Professor Joan Cole Award for most outstanding physiotherapy graduate and appeared on the vice-chancellor’s list three times. His honours project involved pain mechanisms and pain modulation in relation to chronic pain. Headaches, neck aches, and chronic pain are areas of particular treatment interest to David. He also enjoys assessing and treating back issues of both acute and chronic nature. He is a problem-solver who enjoys creating personalised treatment and management solutions for each individual. In addition to regular physiotherapy treatment, David is qualified to provide dry needling with acupuncture needles to address muscle and myofascial issues. David is also a qualified remedial massage therapist, graduating from Central TAFE in Mt Lawley, Western Australia in 2001 with a Diploma of Remedial Massage (Similar to a Registered Massage Therapist qualification in Canada). He is proficient in a number of massage techniques, including Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, and Myofascial Release, and continues to use these skills within the scope of a physiotherapy session. He has played tennis since age 4 and also has a background in circus performance and capoeira (a Brazilian acrobatic dance form). He enjoys travelling the world and has visited many beautiful places both in Australia, Canada, and abroad.
