Debra is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Ryerson Polytechnic University (2000) and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Toronto (2006). She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, as well as the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
In providing counselling support, Debra utilizes principles from various treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Meditation, Grief Counselling, as well as the use of Expressive Arts Therapy and Life Coaching. Debra’s practice focuses on assisting individuals to help them recognize their own personal strengths, coping abilities and resilience to manage more effectively day to day, while providing support in a caring, non-judgmental and empathetic environment.
As Debra is also an artist, and has a Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy, she will often incorporate the use of art making as a way for people to process difficult emotions and life circumstances. Debra works with adults dealing with issues including anxiety, depression, stress management, wellness promotion, self-improvement, grief and loss, and coping and adjustment issues.
