While training for mountain biking and cycling competition, Dr. Vermander found himself questioning how the human body works and why it responds the way it does. He completed his B.Sc., Hon., in Human Kinetics, studying exercise physiology, biomechanics and sports medicine at the University of Ottawa in 1999. He worked in a multidisciplinary clinic and observed a natural, team-like, conservative approach to medicine. This sparked the desire to study the human body further and pursue a career in natural medicine. Chiropractic health care is a combination of natural and conservative, physical medicine. It was a perfect fit. In 2009, Dr. Vermander graduated from the University of Western States (Portland, Oregon), one of the world’s best institutions teaching evidence-based chiropractic medicine. In 2010, he moved to Vancouver and has been enjoying the city and outdoors with his family ever since.
He practices with a patient-first chiropractic approach and often combines Active Release Technique (ART) and exercise to treat muscle, nerve, bone and joint problems.
