Dr. Stuart completed her Ph.D. at the University of Alberta in 2002. She has over 20 years of experience as a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia, and she held the position of Director of Training for the Master of Counselling program at Adler University. She has mentored and supervised both Master and Doctoral level students. She has worked in a variety of clinical mental health settings with adults and children, including private practice. She completed research on the psychotherapeutic process, the role of emotions in therapy and mind-body interactions, and this informs her current treatment approaches. Currently, she is accepting adult clients age 19 and older.
Dr. Stuart works from a holistic and integrative approach that is coauthored with the client, driven by your personal processing style, providing tools and strategies for you to find a path to achieving your goals. She has excellent experience in treatment of anxiety, trauma /Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, workplace or personal stress, and interpersonal relationship issues.
Dr. Stuart draws on several therapeutic modalities including classic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Focussing, and Somatic Experiencing. Here at KPG we have relationships with medical specialists and work with them to assist with improving sleep (sleep clinics), addressing pain (pain clinics), and assisting in pre-and post-therapeutic care for client’s choosing to go to local clinics for the use of psychedelics in their healing journey. Dr. Stuart coordinates with these fellow professionals in a multidisciplinary approach to address client needs, assisting with chronic and severe conditions. She also works within a client’s preferred spiritual context, to support higher order satisfaction in achieving their therapeutic goals.
Dr. Stuart maintains professional membership in several professional organizations including: The Canadian Psychological Association; The British Columbia Association of Psychologists; The American Psychological Association; EMDR Canada and EMDR International.
Dr Stuart is relocating back to Kelowna and is now accepting new clients. During her transition to Kelowna, she will begin with remote video consults via our user-friendly JANE Video platform, which our admin team can assist you with. You will then secure a space with Dr. Stuart and you can transition to in-person at our office in Landmark 6 when she completes her commitments in the lower mainland. She will offer a hybrid practice with in-person and remote, as you prefer, going forward.
