Jonathan Lockwood, MD, is a Sports Medicine Physician at LiveActive. Dr. Lockwood has
experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide variety of sports-related injuries and in
many types of injection therapies. He has a particular interest in throwing athletes and injuries,
diagnostic ultrasound, and in elite athletes after they retire from sport.
Prior to medicine, Dr. Lockwood had a career as an athlete. He was a professional baseball
player in the Seattle Mariners organization and represented Canada in many international
tournaments, including the World Cup of Baseball and in the Olympic Games. Dr. Lockwood
hopes to apply this experience to treating sports injuries in athletes of all skill levels and to
support athletes in mental and physical health on and off the field.
Dr. Lockwood completed his Bachelor of Science, Doctor of Medicine, and Family Medicine
training from the University of Toronto. He obtained a master’s degree studying obesity at
McMaster University. He holds a fellowship in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the
University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Lockwood has a diploma from the Canadian Academy of
Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM) and is a member of the World Olympians Association
and Association of Professional Baseball Players of America.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Lockwood enjoys staying active at the gym and through
participation in a variety of recreational sports.
