Dr. Katarina Vaculik, ND, BSc, RN has been helping numerous people suffering from various health problems, including high blood pressure, digestive issues, cholesterol, thyroid disorders, menopause, infertility, skin problems as well as stress and anxiety. She has a special interest in hormonal imbalances and autoimmune disorders, such as Rheumatoid arthritis, Multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s and Colitis and others.
Dr. Vaculik has been exposed to healthcare since she was a child, which empowered her to follow in her mother’s footsteps, embracing the healthcare profession. Her background as a registered nurse working in the Intensive Care Unit helping critically ill patients and an Intravenous Infusion Clinic specializing in the treatment of autoimmune diseases with biological drugs has given her a deep understanding of how natural medicine can make a difference. Witnessing the unpleasant side effects caused by medications, she became motivated to explore alternative options that would nourish the body without inflicting further harm. Additionally, her personal struggle with hormonal imbalance led her to discover the power of natural therapies, as she found not only lasting improvements in her own health but also inspired her to become a Naturopathic Doctor. Driven by her passion to help, she pursued her studies in Naturopathic medicine so she can assist others to prevent the development of chronic conditions that can potentially lead to advanced disease stages by addressing underlying imbalances or risk factors with early prevention, lifestyle modification and immune system support.
While studying human anatomy and physiology, and treating numerous patients, Dr. Vaculik gained profound insight into the potential origins of individuals’ health problems. She understood that there is an amazing correlation and interdependence of the body, mind, and soul. During the assessment and follow up visits, Dr. Vaculik identifies the root cause and incorporates and addresses all aspects of a person’s well-being, including physical, mental, emotional, and energetic aspects. To correct imbalances she uses herbal medicine, homeopathy, diet changes, nutritional supplements, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with acupuncture. Additionally, she provides dietary, lifestyle, and behavioural counselling to embrace a holistic approach to healing.
Along with symptom management, Dr. Vaculik guides her patients through true well-being and a transformative journey. She supports them and helps them to recognize that true healing requires patience, compassion, and a strong commitment to taking care of every aspect of oneself.
Dr. Vaculik is a devoted and proud mother of two children and places importance on leisure time spent with her little ones, engaging in fun-filled activities and demonstrating a strong commitment to family values. She delights in visiting the beach, exploring the ocean while sailing, and finding solace in the peaceful coastal environment and the thrilling experiences they offer. Dr. Gerus is certified in HeartMath, a special technique that helps people suffering from insomnia, high blood pressure, anxiety and PTSD by regulating their heart rhythms naturally and improving balance between the heart and brain.
In this session, you’ll meet with Dr. Gerus to discuss your current hormonal health, including where you are right now and what you’ve tried so far. The visit may include tests conducted by Dr. Gerus to assess your stress levels and overall balance, which may also include a HeartMath session. Together, you’ll explore the next steps and receive personalized recommendations to help restore hormonal balance and improve your overall well-being.
This consultation involves the naturopathic doctor performing an initial assessment with the full investigation of your health concerns which includes thorough questioning of all body systems, details regarding your symptoms, past medical history, evaluation of current medications and natural health products that you are taking and if available at the time of visit, evaluation of past lab results ordered by your Medical Doctor or specialist. Based on what the Naturopathic Doctor concludes after gathering all the information, an initial treatment plan will be discussed and implemented. Further blood test recommendations will be made by the Naturopathy doctor if needed. Commonly during this visit, depending on the patient case a nurse practitioner involvement will be initiated because she will be the primary prescriber for hormone therapy if needed as some hormones are outside of the scope of the Naturopathic Doctor. Both ND and NP practitioner have a special interest and extra training in bio-identical hormone therapy and hormone imbalances. This integrative approach allows for all of your health goals to be addressed by both the natural approach and conventional approach for a full investigation of your health concerns. Why this may be important to you is that further diagnostic testing such as ultrasounds and medications may be ordered by the nurse practitioner (NP) to further investigate and treat your current health conditions. All this while still having a holistic approach in mind and treating the root cause of the health disorder. Bringing an NP on board allows for individualized patients to have access to tests and medications (some hormones) that are outside my scope of practice. It’s like having both a naturopathic and conventional approach that have an in depth focus on hormones under one roof.
