Dr. Kyla Stewart was born and raised in the Okanagan. She completed a double major in Biology and Chemistry at the University of British Columbia, followed by a Bachelor of Education. Her love of both teaching and medicine ultimately led her to pursue naturopathic medicine at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver.
Dr. Kyla was drawn to naturopathic medicine because it allows for meaningful patient connection, time to understand each individual’s health story, and the ability to integrate natural therapies with conventional medical approaches when appropriate. For her, it is the ideal balance of nature, medicine and personalized care.
Her clinical focus includes integrative cancer care, digestion and gut health, women’s health and hormones, chronic fatigue, and general wellness.
Naturopathic oncology involves an evidence-based, integrative approach to those undergoing conventional cancer treatments. Patients can be supported through any phases of treatment—before, during, and after surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Treatment goals include monitoring for herb, nutrient, and drug interactions that may affect conventional therapies, minimizing side effects from chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, offering evidence-based natural therapies that work synergistically with prescribed treatments, and supporting overall performance and nutritional status throughout the course of care. Since cancer is a multifactorial beast, Dr. Kyla believes the most effective model of care is one that is integrative and collaborative.
With all her patients, Dr. Kyla’s goal is to make the path forward clear, individualized, and achievable—helping each individual feel educated, supported, and empowered in their care plan. She uses functional laboratory testing to identify root causes and to help build a personalized plan. Therapies may include nutrition and lifestyle interventions, targeted nutraceutical and herbal support, injection and IV nutrient therapy, and other adjunctive approaches.
Dr. Kyla is board certified in chelation therapy (heavy metal detoxification), intravenous therapy, and acupuncture, and she maintains full prescriptive authority.
When she is not in clinic, you will find her enjoying time with her dog, Levy, friends and family, snowboarding, water sports and beating her husband at tennis.
