Dr. Meghan Crookshank is a sport and exercise medicine primary care physician. Prior to attending medical school at the University of Toronto, she enjoyed the world of biological engineering and completed her Bachelor's of Science in Engineering (University of Guelph), her Master's of Science in Engineering (Queen's University), and her PhD at the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto with much of her research focusing on orthopaedic biomechanics and computer-assisted orthopaedic surgery. She then made the shift to medical school and, upon its completion, she completed two years of residency in orthopaedic surgery (University of Toronto) before making the transition to family medicine (University of Toronto) and, finally, completing her fellowship in sport and exercise medicine at the University of Toronto. She has had the pleasure of providing medical coverage for a variety of teams and events through her training, such as with the Varsity Blues football, volleyball, and hockey teams and truly enjoys this aspect of her work. She is passionate regarding the importance of physical activity and mobility for overall health for all individuals and enjoys working with a spectrum of patients ranging from those who are trying to maintain functional mobility and activity to high-performance athletes. She is looking forward to reapplying her research background to areas in the sport and exercise medicine community, such as injury prevention.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing soccer, road cycling, and hiking (to name a few things) and tries to maximize time with her family and friends.
