As long as Dr. Sidhu can remember, she’s always liked to go against the grain, explore, and learn new things. “I like challenges and inventing my own path.” She’d never heard of chiropractic care, however, until she worked in an orthopedic surgeon’s office during her time at the University of Alberta. Frustrated by some referrals, the surgeon felt that many of his patients would be better served by a chiropractor. “It was the first time I’d ever heard of one!”
Growing up in small-town northern British Columbia, chiropractic was a new idea for Dr. Sidhu. Many of her courses at the university were physics, anatomy, psychology, pharmacology, and biology. The professor of one such course happened to be a chiropractor who taught biomechanics. A conversation with this professor led Dr. Sidhu to realize that chiropractic would be the perfect career. The combination of learning movement mechanics and the correlation to the human body and its function was very intriguing to Dr. Sidhu. She had no idea how going into the career of Chiropractic was going to lead her to her life purpose of helping people heal their bodies.
After completing her bachelor’s degree at the University of Alberta in 2008, Dr. Sidhu decided to further pursue a career in Chiropractic. She attended Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Her Chiroptactic career started with passion for treating athletes, body builders, and all things sports! She quickly fell in love with facilitating healthy aging, prenancy, scoliosis, jaw pain, headaches, migraines, chronic pain, postural correction, fibromyalgia, ankle and foot issues....and the list goes on. Dr. Sidhu was passionate about solving problems and strives to get to the root of the problem.
A few years into practice she realized some patients kept returning back with the same issues. She started noticing correlations between mental state and physical body and how anxiety, depression, grief and stress had an impact on the physical body and its presentation. Although she has had huge success with acute pain and is able to help patients maintain optimal musculo-skeletal health, she started craving a more in debt understanding of why there is muscle memory, chronic pain, chronic motor patterns, stress patterns, and nervous system related dysfunctions. Her journey to get to the root cause led her to taking further education in understanding the nervous system more in debth. Dr. Sidhu began to understand other modalities and treatment approaches like cranial sacral therapy, acupuncture, network chiropractic, somatic bodywork, etc that focus on regulating the nervous system. Having an open mind allowed Dr. Sidhu to explore the science of how these modalities have the potential to help heal. It became clear to her that it was about facilitating the body to heal through our nervous system. Now we are getting to the root!
It’s important to Dr. Sidhu that she stay updated on the latest health research and developments. Although she understands in debth the interconnectedness of our bodies, she believes that we are just scratching the surface with research. She believes in the bodies innate ability to heal itself and is a passionate advocate of facilitating the bodies healing capabilities. She takes regular continuing education courses and loves to combine traditional chiropractic methods and other holistic modalities to reach optimal results. The training Dr. Sidhu has undertaken include certifications in Diversified Chiropractic, Thompson Technique, FAKTR rehab systems (Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehabiliation), Active Release Therapy®, Graston Technique, and most recently, Spinal Flow Technique®

**New patients please contact to book** This treatment strategy is ideally scheduled as a series of 12 visits or a minimal of 3 visits (2-3 days apart) to start. Dr. Sidhu recommends this approach for anyone seeking a gentle alternative method to support the body's healing process or to complement current chiropractic treatment strategy with an additional nervous system regulation technique. It is particularly beneficial for those suffering from chronic pain, headaches, migraines, stress, anxiety, unexplained symptoms, and various nervous system conditions. Our treatment sessions integrate gentle tonal spinal adjustments or instrument-assisted adjustments, incorporating the Spinal Flow Technique and Tonal Integrative Correction (TIC). These treatments aim to work directly with your nervous system, releasing physical, emotional, and chemical stress layers. **Why Regulating the Nervous System is Important:** Regulating the nervous system at a physiological level is crucial because chronic stress and imbalance can keep the nervous system in a persistent fight-or-flight mode. This state not only drains the body's energy reserves but also restricts optimal nerve function, leading to a range of health issues. Proper nervous system regulation helps: **Enhance Healing:** By shifting the nervous system to the parasympathetic mode (rest, digest, healing), the body can activate its innate ability to self-regulate, release stress, and regenerate tissues. **Improve Nerve Function:** Restoring balance allows peripheral nerves to function optimally, reducing pain and improving overall health. **Reduce Symptoms:** Effective regulation can alleviate chronic pain, headaches, migraines, anxiety, and other stress-related conditions by addressing their root causes. Research in psychosomatic medicine shows that emotional, physical, and chemical stress can have profound effects on the body. Emotional stress can lead to muscle tension, headaches, and gastrointestinal issues, while physical stress from injuries or poor posture can cause chronic pain and musculoskeletal problems. Chemical stress from toxins or poor nutrition can disrupt bodily functions and contribute to inflammation and hormonal imbalances. These stressors accumulate and manifest as various health issues by: **Triggering Inflammation:** Chronic stress can cause ongoing inflammation, leading to pain and various chronic conditions. **Affecting Hormonal Balance:** Stress hormones like cortisol can remain elevated, disrupting sleep, digestion, and overall well-being. **Compromising Immune Function:** Persistent stress weakens the immune system, making the body more susceptible to illness. For more information on how gentle tonal technique can help regulate your nervous system or to discuss whether this treatment is right for you, please contact us or speak with Dr. Sidhu during your next visit.
