My name is Dr. Sony Sandhu and I am one of the two founding Chiropractors here in our Surrey clinic. I was born and raised in Fort St. James, BC where I played several types of sports growing up.
I was first introduced to Chiropractic care when I injured my rotator cuff playing competitive baseball. Doctors told me that I should consider quitting due to the condition. My parents took me to a Chiropractor for treatment and over the course of a few weeks, I had completely recovered. I knew that I too wanted to help people in this way.
After attending Simon Fraser University, I moved to Portland, Oregon in 2000 to begin my Chiropractic Education at University of Western States. I moved back to Canada in late 2003 when I started working at Newton Wellness Centre.
I continue to stay very active in sports. I play ice hockey two to three times per week. I squeeze in tennis once a week and try to get into the gym two to three times per week. As a result, I have my spine manipulated weekly to minimize aches and pains.

Your follow up visits with Dr. Sandhu will consist of a combination of therapies including chiropractic adjustments, interferential current, ultrasound, heat, ice, soft tissue work and stretching. The use of these therapies is determined by the needs of your injury and your phase of care.

Tailored Individually Custom prescription orthotics are precision medical devices that are tailored for an individual to correct biomechanical misalignment (high arch or flat feet). They are inserted into your regular shoes and also used in the treatment of a variety of foot and lower limb conditions. Here at Newton Wellness Centre, we provide our Surrey patients with custom prescription orthotics using computerized gaitscan technology for a wide range of problems including: Plantar Fascitis Flat Feet (Pes Planus) High Arches (Pes Cavus) Heel Spurs Shin Splints Knee Pain Hip and Low Back Pain Leg Length Differences Runners Knee An Integral Role in Overall Treatment They can relieve pain, improve skeletal alignment and improve the function and efficiency of your foot, knees, hips and lower back. Many of our patients inquire about custom orthotics as a preventative tool in an effort to avoid low back and knee pain. Custom made orthotics can play an integral role in the overall treatment of many problems of the spine and extremities. They can help increase mechanical efficiency at the ankle and foot to reduce abnormal biomechanical stress on the body by maintaining proper ankle and foot joint function and by preventing excess motion and increasing shock absorption. Custom orthotics are covered in whole or part by most supplemental insurance plans. Also, the prescription rights for orthotics varies, so be sure to check what your plan covers.
