Eric is a Registered Psychologist, born in Edmonton, and practicing in the community for over 5 years. As a narrative therapist, Eric believes an important part of fostering growth, change, and acceptance surrounds how an individual defines themselves and defines their lives during difficult situations. He works to help clients deconstruct unhelpful narratives and build positive ones.

He has extensive experience working with a wide range of different people, cultures and population groups with a variety of psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationships. Eric believes a vital aspect of achieving healthy and helpful therapy is the therapeutic relationship. He seeks the client’s input and guidance in order to make psychological treatment most beneficial for them. In that way, therapy is a collaborative process in its creation, implementation, and maintenance.

This introductory info session offers a clear and practical overview of Somatic Developmental Psychology, with a focus on the Bodynamic approach. Arijana will introduce what somatic development is, why it matters, and how this body-based developmental psychology is used in a therapeutic and personal development setting. The session will explore the objective of somatic developmental work and how psychological capacities develop through the body across the lifespan. Participants will be introduced to the full map of Ego Functions used in Bodynamic somatic psychology. One Ego Function, Boundaries, will be explored in more depth through concrete and relatable examples. Arijana will demonstrate how psychological defences can show up in the body and how they may appear in relationships and everyday interactions. The session will also include an overview of Bodynamic education, what this system entails, and how it is applied in personal growth and professional development contexts. Information will be shared about an upcoming Bodynamic Foundation Training planned to be held in Edmonton, with the opportunity to join a waiting list. Words Matter: Strategies for a Meaningful Client Experience180 min

Can be billed toExtended health plans

Words Matter: Strategies for a Meaningful Client Experience 3 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) As a fitness professional or manual therapist, you influence and shape your clients’ experiences with exercise. Your words matter. Well, all of your communication matters—words and actions, including underlying biases. For instance (likely without even thinking about it), you may reinforce implicit physical culture rules, beliefs, norms, and values, many of which are negative. You are also an educator with an opportunity to facilitate embodied learning in your clients. In other words, you get to help your clients learn about themselves through the physical sensations of exercise. It’s not just you, of course. As part of a team of health and wellness experts, you and your peers have a cumulative effect on your clients’ experiences with exercise and rehabilitation. This interactive, 3-hour practical workshop invites you to engage with your team to examine what each of you, individually and collectively, brings to your work and how this impacts client inclusion, outcomes, and adherence. You will enact relevant client personas in collaborative simulations, actively practicing and reflecting on nuanced instructional cues. You will leave this workshop with tangible strategies to mitigate stigma and maximize clients’ sense of self-efficacy and agency for their own physical activity and well-being.
