Estelle Barry, MClSc(PT), is a senior physiotherapist with a wide range of experience in private practice. Her early experience in the Canadian Forces taught her the value of working as a team, which in a clinic setting means supporting client empowerment and collaborating with other practitioners to develop effective and personalized treatment plans.
Estelle has post graduate certifications in manual therapy, motor and kinetic control and most recently she has acquired certifications in posture analysis and correction strategies. She understands the fundamental role posture plays in most muscle and joint pain presentations, whether traumatic, acute or chronic, and brings this insight to all her client care activities.

What Is Reflexology? Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapeutic technique that involves applying gentle, targeted pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears. These reflex zones are believed to correspond to different organs, glands, and systems in the body. By stimulating them, reflexology can help calm the nervous system, promote balance, and support the body’s natural healing processes. What Are the Benefits? Patients often report: Reduced stress and anxiety Improved sleep and digestion Relief from tension, headaches, and chronic discomfort A deep sense of calm and overall well-being Reflexology can also support nervous system regulation by helping the body shift out of "fight or flight" and into a parasympathetic, restorative state. Who Can Benefit? Reflexology is suitable for all ages and is especially helpful for those managing: Chronic stress or burnout Anxiety, fatigue, or sleep disturbances Digestive issues or hormonal imbalances Post-stroke recovery or limited mobility (as shown in recent research) PTSD or cPTSD Concussion It’s a gentle, non-invasive therapy that complements most health and wellness goals. Backed by Science Recent fMRI studies show that reflexology changes brain activity in networks related to touch, pain processing, and emotional regulation. One study even demonstrated that stimulating foot reflex zones activated the exact brain regions associated with corresponding body parts—supporting the neurological basis of reflexology maps. In clinical research, reflexology has also helped activate sensory pathways in stroke patients, reinforcing its potential in supporting nervous system function and neuroplasticity.
